A poetry slam, concert and non-partisan political power party for people who've never voted, love voting, are thinking about voting, can't wait to vote for the first time, don't know what all the excitement is about, can't even vote yet, or want to know why you should vote anyway.

Poetry Slam starts at 7:30 and is hosted by DJ Divine, super slam poet and co-host of 33 1/3 Vintage Jazz at KRCL. Awesome prizes for anyone who participates - the winner of the slam gets to perform at the opening of "Liberties Under Fire," an art exhibit of nationally-recognized artists opening at Salt Lake Art Center in October. DJ Tri, host of Jazz:Sol on KRCL, will spin between slam rounds.

Anyone can sign up for the slam that night - we're looking for amazing local poets (or anyone who thinks they could be one!) to speak up about: youth power, creating big change, getting active, using your voice and exercising your rights. Shout about immigration, the cost of gas, old people always running the world, new ideas, LGBT rights, solar energy, religious freedom, racial profiling, our crowded prisons - WHATEVER!

After the Slam - live Music from local hip hop crew Blue Collar Theory starting at 9:00 p.m.

Party officially starts at 7:00 and goes until around 10:00 p.m., all in the courtyard of Spy Hop Productions at 511 W. 200 S. (right by the light rail station)

Free food and prizes all night!

No admission costs, no booze and no trouble - just bring your bad self and a couple of friends. We'll provide the energy drinks to keep you buzzing until we kick you out

This is a non-partisan party, open to anybody, presented by the ACLU of Utah, Spy Hop Productions and Equality Utah.
