801 Sessions

801 SESSIONS is an independent, youth-run music production company offering internships to teens interested in learning about the production side of the music business.

As an 801 Sessions staff member, you’ll plan, book, promote and film a monthly all-ages event series held at local venues in Salt Lake City.

The 801 Sessions staff will handpick three local musical acts each month and produce an exclusive video of the headliner performing their songs and discussing their music. These videos, along with free downloads of live music from the event, will go up on the 801 Sessions video blog promoted by Spy Hop and SLUG Magazine.

Over the course of a few months, you will learn a wide variety of skills from audio and video production to marketing and event planning to artist management and accounting.

Summer 801 Sessions will curate a week of outdoor lunchtime shows in downtown Salt Lake, as part of the Salt Lake City Arts Council Brown Bag Concert Series. You will also get a behind the scenes tour of the Twilight Concert Series setup, and work closely with industry professionals from all over the city.

This class requires a short interview with mentor, Jeremy Chatelain. Interviews must be set up with Jeremy prior to the start of class. This is a great way for us to get to know you a little bit better. And, for you to get to learn more about the program that you are applying for. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and to clarify the expectations of the class. If you have any questions about the interview or the class in general, please contact Jeremy at chatelain@spyhop.org.
