Become a Design Apprentice and learn about what it takes to make design your career! With hands-on graphic design, 2D and 3D logo design, and real-world client experience your time as an apprentice will help you build a professional portfolio and a clear path for next steps to make your artistic passion your profession. Learn about what it takes to be a real-world designer, meet industry professionals and other teens with similar interests! And, you’ll have the opportunity to earn a $200 stipend for your work.
Students are expected to complete all projects in order to earn a stipend.
The Design Apprenticeship is held in-person at the Kahlert Youth Media Arts Center, however, if you are interested in this class and need a remote/online option, please reach out to Liz Schulte, Design Mentor to explore options for online participation.
What happens in this class:
- Learn how to make vectors: Design a 2D board game and laser cut the board & game pieces.
- Learn 3D software and build objects in 3D space: 3D printing
This class requires an Interview Session with the teaching mentor prior to being accepted into the class. The Interview Session is simply a way for the mentor and student to get to know each other and to assess interests, skill level, and set expectations for the program. Prospective students will be notified prior to the start of class of their acceptance into the program.
