Resonate is a fast-paced hip-hop production program that celebrates music as a vehicle for self-expression and social change. In this workshop you will work closely with a Spy Hop mentor and guest artists from the Get It Write Records collective to write and record a collection of songs with your Resonate crew. Along the way, you’ll deconstruct hip-hop songs, learn and practice lyrical techniques, sharpen your beatmaking skills, and brainstorm how to market and promote yourself as an artist. The workshop will end with a live performance of the songs you created.
What happens in this class:
- Learn how to create your own beats using Ableton
- Learn about lyrical structure and writing techniques
- Collaborate with other MCs and beat makers
- Perform your songs for a live audience
- Participate in ciphers
- Learn how to market and promote yourself as an artist
Interview Session:
This class requires an Interview Session with the teaching mentor prior to being accepted into the class. The Interview Session is simply a way for the mentor and student to get to know each other and to assess interests, skill level, and set expectations for the program. Prospective students will be notified prior to the start of class of their acceptance into the program.
The teaching mentor for Resonate will contact prospective students directly to schedule interviews.
