2024 Summer Camp General Policies

Tuition and Payment

Tuition for Spy Hop’s 2-Week summer camps is $650. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. All major credit cards are accepted. Parents/Guardians will receive a confirmation via email, along with a form to fill out your camper’s information. Parents/Guardians will also receive a reminder phone call and email one week before camp starts. Camps will not be prorated if a camper is not able to attend the entire length of the camp.

Drop Off

Spy Hop Summer Camps take place at Spy Hop’s Kahlert Youth Media Arts Center, 208 W Harvey Milk Boulevard, and partner locations throughout Salt Lake City.

Drop-off is between 8:30 and 9:00 am daily at Spy Hop’s Kahlert Youth Media Arts Center. Please use the back parking lot for student drop-off, which is easily accessed by traveling west on 900 South and turning right into the alleyway just west of our facility. There will be Spy Hop staff members checking in all campers starting at 8:30 AM. Parents/guardians will not need to leave their cars for drop-off; a Spy Hop staff member can escort campers into the building.

Please be prompt in dropping off and picking up your camper. Spy Hop does not assume responsibility for any camper dropped off unattended. Please do not drop off your camper before 8:30 am, as staff will not be present to admit your camper.

Pick Up

Spy Hop Summer Camps end at 3:30 PM. Please pick up your camper on time at the designated pickup location – pickup locations are specified for each camp; please pay close attention to the camp partner location for pick-up information. Spy Hop requires that those picking up campers in summer camps are listed as approved to do so (including parents). Campers will be signed in and out at the start and end of each day. If you need to make a different pick-up arrangement during the week, please contact the Program Coordinator, Lillie Cummings, at programs@spyhop.org or call 801-532-7500 to communicate arrangements. Partner camp pick up expectations will be communicated to parents/caregivers via email one-week prior to the start of camp.

Refunds

A full refund (less a $20 processing fee) will be given for a summer camp dropped 30 days prior to the class start date. A 50% refund (less a $20 processing fee) will be given for a summer camp dropped 14 days prior to class start date. No refunds will be offered for summer camps that are dropped less than 14 days before the class start date. No refunds will be authorized in the event of a camper dismissal. Please contact us at 801-532-7500 if you have extenuating circumstances beyond student or parent control and we will work with you to come up with a reasonable solution.

Tuition Assistance

Spy Hop offers limited need-based tuition assistance for Spy Hop Summer Camps. Please contact Education Director, Myke Johnson myke@spyhop.org to request financial assistance. Requests will be reviewed on a first-come first serve basis.

Cancellation Of Class

If fewer than the minimum number of campers enroll, the camp will be canceled. Parents will be notified in advance and will receive a full refund. Summer camps require a minimum enrollment of 4 campers before they can be held.

Discipline Policy

The purpose of good classroom and camp management is to provide an environment conducive to learning and fun. Teachers have the right to teach and campers have the right to learn. A disruptive camper detracts from the camp experience and affects the enjoyment of others.

Campers are expected to abide by these rules:

  1. Listen and follow directions
  2. Show respect to others around you, the space, and the equipment
  3. Use appropriate language and behavior

Our policy in handling disruptive children is as follows: First, the instructor will discuss the situation with the camper; on the second occurrence, the instructor will notify the parent/guardian. If the situation continues uncorrected, the Spy Hop staff will contact the parent/guardian and the camper will be dismissed from the camp. No refunds will be authorized in the event of a dismissal.

Cell Phone and Device Policy

We recognize that your camper may have the need to bring a cell phone/mobile device for communication purposes. However, digital device usage during class is not permitted. Please leave tablets and game devices at home. Spy Hop is not responsible for any lost or stolen devices.

Lunch and Snacks

Campers are required to bring their own lunches. 30 minutes of supervised lunchtime will be provided each day. Spy Hop will provide snacks and drinks. Please let the Program Coordinator know prior to class if your camper has any food allergies. Please email programs@spyhop.org or call 801-532-7500.
