Art Talk with Sean Slobodan

October 21, 2022 | 5:00 pm6:00 pm

Join us October 21st from 5pm – 6pm in the Spy Hop Student Lounge (2nd Floor) to hear from local cinematographer, Sean Slobodan! This is a free community event, welcome to all.

Sean Slobodan grew up making films on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Known by some as The Big Maple, the Canadian filmmaker’s instinct for genuine human stories and ability to connect with both his talent and real human subjects takes him across the globe, working as both a director and cinematographer.

Sean’s work is emotive and his passion for people, places and environmental protection fuels his creative process. His work has garnered accolades from Emmy’s to Vimeo staff picks and “Best of” laurels in film festivals worldwide. He is the founder of Local Studio in Salt Lake City, where he lives with his wife, Megan, and their children Evelyn, Penelope, and Paul.

Phase 2 hosts an Art Talk every month at the Spy Hop Kahlert Youth Media Arts Center where we invite notable artists to speak about their creative journeys related to film, audio, music, and design.

These talks are an opportunity to hear how these accomplished artists got their start, what their path looked like, and how they have created an inspiring and sustainable life and career for themselves. It’s also a chance to mingle with the Spy Hop community and check out our awesome space.
