Simple Animation Workshop

Tune in for this animation workshop with Sam as she takes you step by step through the process of making your own animation, flipbook style! Sam will show you how to construct your own flipbook, build your own lightbox for tracing, and you learn the techniques of animation.

Part 1

Tune in for this on-going video series with Sam as she takes you step by step through the process of making your own animation, flipbook style! This first video starts with the basics of how to construct your flipbook. 

Materials and Downloads Needed:

  • Computer
  • Camera (the camera on a phone will work!)
  • Pencil or pen
  • Note cards, or paper cut into the same sized rectangles
  • Alligator clips or paper clips or a stapler

Part 2

In this lesson, Sam takes you step by step through the process of building your own lightbox for animating, using cardboard, tinfoil, and a light!

Materials and Downloads Needed:

  • Tinfoil
  • Tape
  • Cardboard
  • Flashlight or phone light
  • Glass pane or clear plastic

Part 3

In this video, Sam goes over some of the basic techniques in creating different illusions in your animations: making things appear faster and slower.

  • Notecards
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Lightbox
