801 Sessions

Make music your business

In this apprenticeship-style program, you will get a chance to run 801 Sessions, a local youth music production company. As part of the 801 Sessions crew you will book bands, design concert fliers, work on the company website, produce videos, and record live music for the monthly concert series. If you are a music fan, want to learn how to run a business, and love working as part of a collective, this is the apprenticeship for you!

801 apprentices who complete a fall or spring session will have the opportunity to apply for a summer paid internship with a local music production company.

What Happens in this Class:

  • Book bands and promote shows at all age venues
  • Learn how to use cameras and video editing software by shooting live music and producing music videos of bands
  • Record and mix audio on pro tools of each live show
  • Take and edit photos of concerts
  • Produce community spotlight videos of people in the music industry
  • Share produced videos, audio and photos on Vimeo, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and Flickr

And, for you to learn more about the program you are applying for. The Interview Sessions are the perfect time for you to ask questions and to gain a better understanding of the expectations of the class. You will be notified of the Interview Session by the mentors via email and/or phone. If you are not able to attend, you must arrange to meet with the mentors at an alternate time. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 801-532-7500.
