In this class, you will embrace the artist within and turn your filmmaking basics sideways, playing with the standards and rules of filmmaking and creating something new and different, whether that’s rearranging scripts, putting dialogue to ants, imitating old films, switching actor’s voices, or using the camera as another character, the possibilities of this class are as endless as your mind!

Howdy! My name is Whitney Skauge, and I’m a documentary filmmaker and portrait photographer originally from Bozeman, Montana. I am inspired by the belief that everyone has a story to tell. I love finding ways to document the softness and wonder hidden in everyday life. My films have screened at film festivals such as SXSW, BlackStar Film Festival, and the Camden International Film Festival.
In my professional life, I am grateful to have worked alongside incredible minds at film studios, media companies, and non-profits such as the Academy Award®-winning Breakwater Studios, Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad, YouTube, Sundance Institute, Interloper Films, and Women in Film.
