About this class

Love talking about music as much as you love listening to it? In this hands-on class, you’ll become the host of your own radio and podcast projects. Learn to share your voice and amplify others through podcasts, radio shows, and zines. You’ll dive into DJ sets, interview fellow students, record vox pops, and even design show posters—all while exploring music, culture, and community.

Use pro gear and software like mics, PodTraks, and Adobe Audition to build your skills in podcasting, teamwork, and audio storytelling. If you love music, conversation, and creative expression, this is your station.

Lou Ruegner is the Radio Production Mentor for Loud and Clear. Before working with Spy Hop, they were the technical manager of K-Ute Radio, where they oversaw the station’s operation and trained student hosts to facilitate radio programming. In addition, they’ve operated live sound and recording systems and run stages at many venues around the valley, including Kilby Court, The Beehive, Abravanel Hall, and Rose Wagner.

Lou holds a bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies and Music Technology from the University of Utah. In their spare time, they enjoy walking their dog and writing music with their partner.
