There is something for everyone from weekly drop-in Open Studio to Foundational classes, Capstone experiences, and paid Apprenticeships. All Spy Hop’s Afterschool classes are held at the Kahlert Youth Media Arts Center between 4 and 8 PM on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Fridays are reserved for Open Studio. All afterschool classes are offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of our amazing supporters who are dedicated to uplifting and supporting the young people in our community.

How to Register

Some classes at Spy Hop require no registration prior to the start of class, while others simply need the completion of an online registration form and confirmation of participation. Our more intensive programs require an online application and a one-on-one interview or audition with an artist mentor. An Overview: Where to begin at Spy Hop

Professional Arts Mentors

Our team of professional media artists will be your mentors, guiding you through every step of the creative process. Benefit from their wealth of industry experience as they share insights and tips to help you build your skills, find your voice, and share your story with the world.

Student Support

Spy Hop’s Student Services Coordinator, Dayana Arellano, is a part of our programming team and is dedicated to connecting students to resources. Some resources available to students include UTA transit passes, scholarship guidance, mental health resources, hygiene products, community engagement opportunities, access to Spy Hop’s equipment lab for gear check-out, and lots of snacks!

Showcasing Your Creative Works

We know your stories have the power to change the world. Spy Hop hosts youth-centered events and showcases to share your creative works with friends, family and your community while also finding meaningful ways to distribute your work through online platforms.

Welcoming, Inclusive, Safe Spaces Dedicated to Youth

Spy Hop’s Kahert Youth Media Arts Center was designed with students in mind. At Spy Hop, we strive to create a welcoming, inclusive, safe space for every student who participates in our programs. Our registration process for our free afterschool programs is focused on creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and skill development in the media arts of film, music, audio, and design.

Mentor to Student Ratio

Most classes at Spy Hop have a capacity of 10 or fewer students to ensure all participants receive individualized instruction from their artist mentor and access to the necessary resources and equipment to take their creative ideas from conception to completion.
