Where do I start?

You don’t need to be a pro filmmaker to join PitchNic! All you need are some foundational filmmaking skills. A great way to build skills and prepare for the PitchNic interview is to take some of our foundational film classes (which, as always, are free)!

Meet the Mentors

Jonathan Nelson (he/him)

Film Mentor

Hi, my name is Jonathan Nelson. I’m a film mentor at Spy Hop and I specialize in Cinematography. I’ve worked in the film industry full time for the past 7 years, playing almost every role on set in various productions. Everything from Documentary, Commercial, Narrative, and Broadcast, I’ve got exposure in.

Most recently, I am in post production for a horror feature film where I was the Director of Photography and a Producer. This film should be hitting festivals later this year.

Loren Brunken (she/her)

Film Mentor

Hello! My name is Loren Brunken. I am the non-fiction film mentor here at Spy Hop. I teach Filmmaking Basics, Set Production, and PitchNic.

I’m a film artist who loves experimenting with a wide variety of artistic mediums. Film became a passion of mine in my early teenage years through Stop Motion, Documentary, and Experimental filmmaking. Film serves the story of life, in a way which I find incredibly gratifying to be a part of.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts Studies, with an emphasis in Screenwriting and New Media. I have worked professionally as a Screenwriter, Editor, Digital Imaging Technician, Production Assistant, and Media Services Specialist.
