About this class

PitchNic is Spy Hop’s year-long filmmaking program.

You and your crewmates will spend one year creating two non-fiction short films. Crews are allotted film budgets and are mentored through all stages of film production: pre-production, production, and post-production. You will be challenged to conceptualize stories, write treatments, create shot lists, pitch films, direct actors, light scenes, edit trailers, and so much more. At the end of this program, you and your crewmates will screen your films at a live, red-carpet film premiere and community Q&A.

Nonfiction filmmaking challenges the artist to create films that are grounded in reality: utilizing real events, the community, local landscapes, and situations rather than imaginary narratives. These films prioritize presenting factual information and aim for faithfulness to the real world, while incorporating creative storytelling and artistic form to uplift that truth.

Dedicate a year to improving your creative skills, crafting compelling narratives, and using cinematography techniques to develop a unique artistic voice.

Applications close October 27th.
