About this class

Behind every live concert, film, album recording, and TV show is a dedicated team of audio professionals who make the technical work of sound come alive. Spend your time in the recording studio learning about concepts like signal flow, microphone placement, studio and live sound recording, music productions, mixing, mastering, and more! Spy Hop audio apprentices run Open Studio every Friday from 3-7 pm, providing free recording sessions for youth musicians. With hands-on production projects and real-world studio experiences that will prepare you for your future career, your time as an apprentice will leave you with a portfolio of your work.

Plus, you’ll earn a $200 stipend for your work: students are expected to complete all projects in order to earn the stipend.

STEP 2: SCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW
This class requires an interview with a mentor. We’ll reach out 2-3 weeks* before class begins to schedule your interview (in-person or via phone call or Zoom). This is for us to learn more about your skill level and interests, and set some expectations for the class. Plus, you’ll get to ask any questions you have!

*If you don’t see an email from us by then, please reach out to programs@spyhop.org — sometimes emails get lost or end up in junk folders.

Make sure to put your interview on your calendar! Please arrive to your interview with your artist mentor on-time.

We’ll share your acceptance news before class kicks off.
