About this class

Spy Hop’s advanced video game design program, Power Up, is looking for artists, gamers, and computer programmers to join our team. In this 10-month intensive design workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience in game design tools like Unity and the Adobe Suite as well as practice the concept of the Scrum, which emphasizes teamwork and accountability. You’ll have the chance to create and play-test several mini-games on your way to creating your final game. And, finally, you’ll unleash your finished game to the world at Spy Hop’s Pixel Gallery celebration! Join us to make friends and a game!

Power Up is held in person at the Kahlert Youth Media Arts Center, however, if you are interested in this class and need a remote/online option, please reach out to Liz Schulte, Game Design Mentor to explore options for online participation.

What happens in this class:

  • Game development in multiple game engines
  • Character Development (back-story, motivations, illustrations, and sprite sheet)
  • C# for game development (learn inventory systems, GUI, scene management, and build unique game mechanics).

Interview Session:
This class requires an Interview Session with the teaching mentor prior to being accepted into the class. The Interview Session is simply a way for the mentor and student to get to know each other and to assess interests, skill level, and set expectations for the program. Prospective students will be notified prior to the start of class of their acceptance into the program.

The teaching mentor for Power Up will contact prospective students directly to schedule interviews.
